At I CAN South Sudan (ICSS), peacebuilding is not just a program—is a pillar of our vision to create communities where every individual, regardless of background or status, can live in dignity, harmony, and hope. Our work is grounded in the belief that lasting peace begins at the grassroots level, where dialogue, trust, and collaboration can transform divided societies into united ones.
We actively engage both refugees and host communities who have been affected by years of conflict and displacement, helping them rebuild relationships and foster mutual understanding. Through community mediation forums, inclusive dialogues, and reconciliation activities, ICSS provides safe spaces for people to share their experiences, heal from trauma, and collectively find solutions to local disputes.
Leadership is central to our approach. We offer training programs that equip youth, women, and persons with disabilities with the skills and confidence to take part in community leadership and decision-making processes. By nurturing local leaders who value transparency, accountability, and inclusion, ICSS helps to strengthen community governance structures that truly represent the people’s voices.
Our initiatives also integrate traditional conflict-resolution methods with modern governance practices, ensuring that peace efforts are culturally grounded and sustainable. By promoting civic engagement, social justice, and respect for human rights, we help communities build systems of governance that are fair, participatory, and responsive to everyone’s needs.
At I CAN South Sudan (ICSS), our Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) program is committed to restoring hope, dignity, and emotional well-being among refugees and host communities affected by displacement and trauma. We create safe spaces where children, youth, and families can freely express themselves, process their experiences, and rebuild a sense of belonging within their communities. These safe spaces are designed to nurture trust, emotional security, and a supportive environment for healing.
ICSS provides a range of psychosocial services, including individual and group counseling, peer support programs, and community awareness sessions. These interventions help individuals cope with stress, loss, and the challenges associated with forced migration. By addressing both emotional and social needs, our programs empower participants to manage trauma, strengthen resilience, and regain a sense of normalcy in their daily lives.
Our trained facilitators and social workers deliver care with compassion, cultural sensitivity, and professional expertise. Through these targeted interventions, ICSS ensures that every individual receives the support they need to rebuild confidence, restore relationships, and pursue personal growth. By combining professional psychosocial care with community-based approaches, we help people move forward with renewed purpose, hope, and emotional stability.
